Practice Video

Since I'm pretty inexperienced with video editing I decided to make a small clip to test out some effects the video clip is just of some water and a image and makes no sense at all
the effects I practiced with are

.Cutting frames
.Inserting images
.Inserting text
.Adding Music
.Toning down background noise
.Changing colour saturation
and
.Saving/importing

Album cover analysis NO. 1 - abstract cover

Cover analysis - Coexist the XX

I chose to analyse this cd case because it has its own style to it and does a goos job of representing the band and there genre of music without a over crowded in your face theme that most artists seem to feature

Front cover/cardboard sleeve

Keeping a fairly subdued colour palette the initial selling point for this album is its simplicity this works in the XX's favour as it fits with the clean and relaxing sound that the band creates. The reason I labelled this cover as 'abstract' is the fact that there is no presence of a band name (apart from one X) or picture of any band members this gives the album a slightly exclusive feel that you must be in the know about the band to recognise the album. This cover appeals to the bands target audience as it is modern and artistic and the XX's target audience would most likely be image conscious and involved with image sharing sites such as Instagram and tumblr therefore sharing all there new purchases such as this album.
One way of showing this album artworks popularity is by how many times it has been redesigned by fans e.g.

Contents/CD

The left side of the open case is a cardboard sleeve initially this is different to usual CD case conventions as the contents booklet usually doubles up as the cover for the case this attention to detail makes the case more of a souvenir than simply a housing for the CD the designers have obviously taken note to the dropping sales of CD's due to digital downloads and gone the extra mile to try and entice more of the target audience on the right side of the open case is the exact same image to that on the cover my theory to this is if the CD is kept in a storage sleeve or in a cd player ect it is instantly recognisable. The simplicty of the cover is carried through.

Back of case

Like those before the simplistic design is carried through to the back of the case featuring only the songs and some legal information/barcode
In my opinion this is a very successful design however I think using such a simplistic design for my digipack may appear lazy if not done as professionally as this CD case.

Projection

PROJECTION

Thinking of ways to make my music video more eye catching and visual I have decided to use a projector to project a image overlay over the set and artists this literally uses the body as a canvas therefore I would keep costume light to create a more blended in vibe or use darker colours to make the artist stand out more prominently

a list of videos that have used this feature are:

Miley Cyrus - We can't stop

The XX - Crystallised

Rihanna - We found love
